FIGHT: Landeskog Pummels Schenn after Dirty Hit on Rantanen

Published

Fights can change the momentum of a hockey game. For the rest of the first period tonight, at least, one did in favor of the Colorado Avalanche. After a dirty knee-on-knee hit by St. Louis Blues forward Brayden Schenn on Avs winger Mikko Rantanen, the Avs’ captain, Gabe Landeskog, stepped in and beat the tar out of Schenn.

A scoreless game in which the Blues were playing even with the Avs to that point suddenly saw the ice tilted completely against the Blues, and the Avs have a 1-0 lead after the period (it should have been more, but Jordan Binnington made some excellent stops).

See the fight here, for yourself:

Long way to go in this one still. Shots were 18-5 Avs in the period.
