Happy, sunny Tuesday. Let’s do some hockey news links and notes and thoughts, starting off with something on Alex Newhook:

Crystal Ball Bonus!
  • I’m hearing that Newhook’s lower-body injury isn’t serious, that there is a good chance he’ll be good to go for the start of the next round. We’ll see if we get an update from Jared Bednar on that today. The Avs have an optional practice slated for the morning at Ball Arena. Maybe Newhook will be on the ice. We’ll see. I think the Avs definitely will need Newhook moving forward.
  • So, the Vegas Golden Knights outshot the Minnesota Wild 40-14 last night, but somehow managed to lose Game 5, 4-2. Now, it’s back to Minnesota for a Game 6. That obviously gives the Avs more rest before playing either one of those teams. When will the next series start, you ask? If it ends in six games, I’d bet that Saturday would be Game 1. If it goes seven, I’d bet Sunday. But those are just pure guesses. More on how the Wild did it last night (Startribune.com)
  • The Penguins are on the brink of elimination after blowing Game 5 against the Islanders (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)
  • Bruins games will be “near capacity” at TD Garden for upcoming playoff games (Boston Hockey Now)
  • Ivan Provorov has a bright future with the Philadelphia Flyers, but he also has some defensive work to do along with the rest of the Flyers after falling short of their playoff goal. (Philly Hockey Now)
  • Taylor Hall may be tearing it up with the Boston Bruins now, but his tenure with the Sabres tops the list of the eight most disappointing things from the NHL’s 2021 regular season. (Bleacher Report)
  • Man, I wish I’d had these CustonEssayOrder services when I was in high school.
  • In Edmonton, it’s being called another “gut punch” with what happened to the Oilers last night (Edmonton Journal).
  • Chuck Fletcher will be at the helm in this crucial offseason. He talked about the Flyers’ need to improve. He said that he’ll need to “be creative” as the Flyers can “upgrade everywhere” this offseason. (Philly Hockey Now)
  • How about that performance by Spencer Knight in the Florida Panthers’ net last night? This could become a great story with two more wins over Tampa Bay (Florida Hockey Now)
  • Speaking of young goalies outdoing their veteran counterparts, let’s hear it for Jack Campbell in Toronto (Toronto Star)
  • What type of players will the Seattle Kraken be looking for in the Expansion Draft? This columnist has some thoughts (Seattle Times)

Thanks Dater. Vegas should be mad as heck. They should destroy Minnesota in game 6.
Vegas, as you said in another post, should be a tough opponent for the AVs. I also worry about Boston and the Lightning should we (hopefully) get that far. What are your thoughts about the best teams from the East and Canada?

Dude, if you used https://customessayorder.com/, you would not be a writer.

Check the advertising for such sketchy operations, will ya? From a subscriber who is also an English teacher

I bet Bobrovsky is happy to have another five years of riding the bench ahead of him.

Hey man everyone’s dreams! That’s what’s wrong with the nhl, the 10 to 12 year contracts were horrible but 7 to 8 is still horrible I say they go to max 5 year even at that it’s a lot what’s the incentive to play your hardest when your locked in to 8 years, a lot of players just stop playing hence so many contracts being bought out or buried I think it’s silly. We want change! Make the players keep playing for that next contract! Should be 3-4 be more players moving and more fun for the fans

Nice the Avs finished the sweep and are able to get a week off here to heal up the injuries and get ready for round 2!! Also love how we made o Reilly eat his words about beating us! Too good!

I’ll say it. McDavid is overrated. He should have taken that team on his back and won one game. One game. The best player in the world could do that. I wouldn’t want him for what you’ve gotta pay him. That’s just another point in my book for Mack. He’s not even the highest paid Av. McDavid is OVER. RATED.
