Dater’s Daily: Newhook OK, Vegas fails to close, McDavid, Oilers out
Happy, sunny Tuesday. Let’s do some hockey news links and notes and thoughts, starting off with something on Alex Newhook:
- I’m hearing that Newhook’s lower-body injury isn’t serious, that there is a good chance he’ll be good to go for the start of the next round. We’ll see if we get an update from Jared Bednar on that today. The Avs have an optional practice slated for the morning at Ball Arena. Maybe Newhook will be on the ice. We’ll see. I think the Avs definitely will need Newhook moving forward.
- So, the Vegas Golden Knights outshot the Minnesota Wild 40-14 last night, but somehow managed to lose Game 5, 4-2. Now, it’s back to Minnesota for a Game 6. That obviously gives the Avs more rest before playing either one of those teams. When will the next series start, you ask? If it ends in six games, I’d bet that Saturday would be Game 1. If it goes seven, I’d bet Sunday. But those are just pure guesses. More on how the Wild did it last night (Startribune.com)
