Game Day: Avs at Vegas, lineup, how to watch

The Colorado Avalanche will play a hockey game tonight. Yessir, and yes ma’am, hockey is baaaa-aaack. The Avs will be back at the scene of their demise to the last season, at T-Mobile Arena to play the Vegas Golden Knights. And, get this: it’ll be on a TV channel that I’m guessing most of you have access.

The 8 p.m. game will be broadcast on the NHL Network. I believe the announcers will be from Vegas (the only preseason game Altitude is showing is on Oct. 5) and this is one of six preseason games the Avs will play. The game can be heard on Altitude 92.5 FM or AM 950. It can be streamed at NHL.tv.

This will be a “young” lineup for the Avs, with only a few veterans mixed in. That is in keeping with NHL tradition to keep most of your top guys home for preseason games, and letting them play in front of the home fans. I assume Vegas will have more of a veteran lineup, but it’s not out yet as I type this. But I do have the Avs lineup:

For me, I’ll be watching closely at how Bo Byram plays, along with Justin Barron and Shane Bowers. It’ll be nice to see how Jack Johnson looks too. This is his chance to make a big impression on Jared Bednar, though I think he’s going to find his way onto the opening-night roster somehow.

It’ll be nice to see how Darren Helm and Artem Anisimov do too. I’ll have full coverage later tonight, so stay up late with me kids.
