Avs Training Camp
CHN Exclusive: Jack Johnson has made the Avalanche roster

Late-breaking news: I’ve learned that Jack Johnson and the Avalanche have an agreement on a new contract for the 2021-22 season. Colorado Hockey Now first reported that the 34-year-old veteran defenseman was likely to sign a deal with the Avs after getting a professional tryout contract. Tonight, an agreement in principle was reached.
Jack Johnson will sign a one-year deal with the Avs, likely on Sunday, but it might not be announced until Monday. The money is likely to be in the $1 million range, but I don’t know the exact figure at this moment.
Johnson played in five of six preseason games, and finished up well tonight, with a plus-2 showing in Colorado’s 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars. He played nearly 18 minutes in the contest, and he projects as either a fifth or sixth defenseman when the puck drops for real on Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
More as it develops…
Yay! Now we have Johnson and Johnson on defense! Until EJ gets injured in game 4…
I hope that Johnson and Johnson on defense will better than the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine 🙂
I’m glad they picked up a second Johnson. The team looked much less intimidated on Saturday night with guys like Jack Johnson in the lineup. Maybe management has turned a corner in their thinking.
