Peter Forsberg to be at Avs game Saturday to honor Pierre Lacroix

Hey fans with tickets to Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues: make sure to get there early, for the ceremony honoring Avs icon, the late Pierre Lacroix. Lots of former Avs will be there, including Peter The Great, Peter Forsberg.
I’m told Forsberg will definitely be there to honor Lacroix. It’s always exciting to see Peter in person, so get your cameras ready.
Unfortunately, Patrick Roy cannot be in attendance, as he is in the midst of coaching the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. I don’t have a full “roster” of players who will be in attendance, but will pass on more if I know. I also believe Ray Bourque will be in attendance.
Lacroix, who died at age 72 last Dec. 13, was the GM of the Avs’ glory years (I feel like I need to say this, because, hey, we’ve got a lot of younger readers on this site!) and guided the team to an NHL record nine straight division titles and two Stanley Cups.
The Avs will raise a banner to the rafters in his name, right next to all the Avs’ retired numbers/players. Make sure you’re in your seats by 5:45 p.m., with the ceremony starting at 6.
Here is my personal remembrance of Pierre Lacroix.
The glory years, indeed. Foppa was an incredible talent and one of the best two way players in the game. His passive/aggressive hits were legendary. He could create, skate, and hold on to the puck forever. Tough as nails. It’s always great to see him in town. Pierre Lacroix? He was the main, driving force behind hockey teams that competed year after year for championships. And – two glorious Stanley Cup wins. Who can ever forget that! Trivia question – “Who won Colorado’s first, ever, world title?” (Major Sports – Baseball, Basketball, Football and Hockey)
