Which Fantasy Hockey Goal Scorers Should You Choose in 2021-22?

The new NHL season is underway and just like previous years, many fans will be turning to fantasy hockey games in the hope they can claim bragging rights and a victory over those they are up against. Different leagues go with different types of scoring, but something that is always needed is goal scoring, regardless of the league you are in. Fantasy hockey is a great way to keep in touch with hockey while also doing something else, not just watching games.

A great way to bet on top-scoring teams and players is to do a puck line bet type in hockey.

As ever, the biggest names from the biggest teams are going to attract the attention of fantasy players, and this season there are many teams being talked about. The Colorado Avalanche are favorites to win the Stanley Cup, available at odds of +480 with Space Casino to lift Lord Stanley’s cup next spring. Although led by Nathan MacKinnon, it may be Mikko Rantanen that claims the most fantasy points, with a 50-goal season possible. Elsewhere, it would be foolish to rule out the Washington Capitals, given they have Alex Ovechkin, and they are as high as +2400 in the betting. Lastly, the Edmonton Oilers have one of the best forward units, led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and with that duo, they are priced at +1700 for glory.

Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals star moved to 5th on the all-time scorers’ list during the first game of the new NHL season, per ESPN, and he will continue to climb the ladder, with Wayne Gretzky at the top in his sights.

Ovechkin is one of the best shooters in the game, with a great one-timer that is the fear of many netminders around the league. This shot, especially on the powerplay, is how Ovi will score a lot of goals this season and get you a lot of fantasy points.

Mikko Rantanen – Colorado Avalanche

Playing alongside one of the most dynamic players in the league in MacKinnon, Rantanen finds himself in a great spot as reported on last season by the NHL’s official site. However, Rantanen is a top-quality player in his own right, and not enough people see this. The top line in Colorado has been gaining praise for years, and that is set to continue.

His wrist shot is incredible, he has one of the best backhanders in the game and can let a one-timer go with ease. Given how much attention MacKinnon draws, and his ability to get the puck to Rantanen, the big Finn could well hit 50 goals this season and back you some huge days in fantasy hockey.

Leon Draisaitl – Edmonton Oilers

We round off with Leon Draisaitl who like Rantanen has the pleasure of having one of the best players in the world as a linemate in Conor McDavid. The German forward hit 50 goals in 2018/19 and in the last two seasons, he would have got close was it not for shortened seasons.
