Alex Newhook: B – Had a costly giveaway that lead to Ottawa’s second goal but redeemed himself with the game-winning goal. Great hand-eye coordination on goal, kicking puck from right skate to left shot in a small space.

Andre Burakovsky: A – Three assists on the night. He seems to be clicking as of recent. Finished a plus three.

Cale Makar: A –The NHL’s 3rd star of the week is just a stud. Need I say more? Led the team with seven shots on net and two goals.

Darren Helm: B – Always fun to watch on the PK. He seems to create some kind of offensive opportunity while out there.

Devon Toews: B – Beautiful goal by jumping up in the play. Led the team in ice time but lost his guy on the 4th Ottawa goal.

Erik Johnson: C – Seemed slow and was a minus two tonight.

Gabriel Landeskog: B –Solid 700th game for the Captain. Assisted on Makar’s goal and a couple of shots on net.

Jack Johnson: C – The team played down to their competition today and a lot of guys just didn’t play amazing including Jack Johnson.

Kiefer Sherwood: C – Had a couple of hits but nothing crazy.

Logan O’Connor: C – Really only had the shorthanded breakaway and couldn’t capitalize.

Mikko Rantanen: A – Drew a penalty in the second by skating hard. Seemed to be all over the puck tonight and rewarded with his second goal of the season

Nazem Kadri: A – Kept the point streak alive 40 seconds into the game. Great pass across the crease to find Nichushkin for the first goal of the game and then to Devon Toews. Empty netter was the cherry on top to a great night.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel : C – Struggled in his own end and getting the puck out. Rough night passing.

Samuel Girard : B – Finished a plus-three tonight but wasn’t impactful.

Tyson Jost: C – Got the crowd energized in the third after a tussle with Tyler Ennis after he took a shot to the head. But not much otherwise.

Valeri Nichushkin: B – Had a couple of shots on net and the first goal of the game and assist on the game winner

Jayson Megna: C – Lost the defensive zone faceoff that led to Ottawa opening goal. Ended the game a minus-two and one shot on net.

Ryan Murray: C – Not a strong game. Not a bad game. Struggled in own zone and getting the puck up the ice.

Darcy Kuemper: D – Five goals on 18 shots. Rough night. Never made the “big” save. Looked jittery throughout. But team bailed him out.
