NHL Mandates Stricter Covid Protocols

Published

on

It’s back to the future time again for the NHL, its players, staff, officials – everyone associated with the game. The league, along with the NHLPA, announced Covid protocols that are essentially the same as last season.

I can tell you that everybody is extremely frustrated by this happening again. Everybody thought getting vaccinated would prevent this kind of thing from having to be put in place again. But here we are.

Here are screen grabs from the NHL’s release. These are in effect through Jan. 7, when they’ll be “reassessed.”

$20 Dollar Bonus Voucher!

There is a lot of talk that the entire league might go on pause until after the holidays, but as of right now, that hasn’t happened yet.

But don’t be surprised.

This is getting ridiculous. The NFL just announced changes to their covid protocols that require testing only for players that show symptoms

The difference is the NFL doesn’t have to deal with the Canadian/US border.

And their games are, by and large, played outside or at the very least in buildings that circulate a LOT of air per occupant.

Normally you could just laugh at all these idiots and say “Well, you clowns voted for this crap,” but sadly, in this case we can’t even say that because we DIDN’T vote for it. #Dominion

aaand another comments section ruined by a Cult 45 shitposter.
can we just talk hockey here? that too much to ask? on a hockey site?

joshmishell

No fucking shit. I’m with you, Christopher.

Joshua Canfield

Agreed. I did think ending his post with “#Dominon” pretty much squared it away for me.

Putting the “dumb” in Dominion

You’re as popular as rug burn. Stick to the conspiracy sites and keep it hockey here please.

Shouldn’t you be in Dallas still waiting on JFK Junior to show up?

I never voted for Covid. Who voted for Covid?

I’m having a little trouble with the logic of all this. The players have all (minus one) been vaccinated. This prevents serious illness-especially in young, healthy individuals. The newest and best information about Omicron shows that it has basically mutated into a common cold virus. The NHL needs to consult with a good epidemiologist.

There is no such thing as a good epidemiologist. Its a government role that is basically someone who is good at math and studying data relationships and building predictive models. If you were any good at those things you can make orders of magnitude more money putting those skills to work in the private sector. Instead you get the dregs building models that predict nothing accurately but they don’t have to as since they are govt employees and can’t be fired for almost any reason. The average American had never heard of an epidemiologist before March 2020 because they did… Read more »

Don’t need to be good at math and studying data relationships and building predictive models. Only to listen the TRUE experts as the virologist Geert Vanden Bossche is sufficient. His statement it’s not paying for the big pharma however. Maybe the NHL doesn’t want to harm the big pharma that pay for the logdes in its buildings.

With any luck, this new variant stays mild and becomes the dominant strain so we can begin to live with it despite people’s opinions on getting vaccinated or taking any sort of precaution. We’re all so tired of this.

The Covid Protocols are perfect to end the season in 2023. As per usual, the NHL is visionary. Congrats!

I want the Avs to put the best product out there, particularly given that we have a tough, upcoming schedule. I do not want to see this team or any team playing AHL players. I’m not sure when Covid rapidly turned into the common-cold, but to act like historically sports teams have a good chunk of their team get decimated by the flu or a cold is rare. Pretending that this is all that is occurring or should occur is idiotic. Not every player is asymptomatic all the time and will spread it to the rest of the team and… Read more »
