‘Cause baby, now we got bad blood
Jack Johnson: C – Barely missed getting his stick on Coyle for the second Bruins goal. He battled, but didn’t seem to have his best stuff tonight.
Erik Johnson: C – He was caught deep in the offensive zone with no help backing him up. These were the “brain cramps” Bednar was talking about this past weekend. Add an unnecessary penalty to give the Bruins a 5-3 and 3-1 lead…not a strong night for the vet. But, hey, he was trying to stick up for a teammate with those cross checks.
Devon Toews: A- – Six shot attempts and two on net. Over 30 (!!) minutes played.
Cale Makar: A – What a goal. What a win for the team. Over 30 (!!) minutes played too. No big deal.
Mikhail Maltsev: C – 5 minutes tonight and a couple of shots. Meets expectations and doesn’t cost the team. Yet, score sheet results are lacking.
Valeri Nichushkin: A – Provided a perfect screen on MacDermid’s goal and two assists. He drew a huge power play in OT by driving to the net. Great effort.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel: C –These “Too Many Men” penalties are becoming a problem…
Tyson Jost: C – He had a couple of chances in front of the net. He’s gotta get something going. Same ol’ same ol’.
Alex Newhook: C – Not much from him tonight. He’s a scorer, so when he doesn’t put points up, you think it’s an off night. That may be a bit unfair, but that’s life.
Logan O’Connor: C – Threw it off the post and provided some much-needed third-period energy. Fairly quiet before that.
Nathan MacKinnon: NA – Suffered a broken nose most likely. Let’s hope it’s not any worse.
J.T. Compher: D – Missed the net on a golden opportunity from an incredible pass from Toews. Can’t buy a goal right now.
Sam Girard: B- Appreciate the sliding effort on the Bruins goal but he was clearly beat. Played with a lot of emotion the rest of the game and was rewarded with the Avs’ second goal. He now has five points in the last six games.
Kurtis MacDermid: A – Tough-guy goal! His time was coming. MacDermid. Smash. He really did have a good game with THREE shots and a goal as a defenseman tonight. But some hater will still probably pick on his Corsi or something.
Nazem Kadri: A – Casually added three assists tonight. The pass to Landeskog was picture-perfect. He waited for that lane to open up and capitalized then to followed it up with the OT assist.
Gabe Landeskog: A – He was chasing Hall after the hit on Mackinnon. He had four hits and they might have been all on Hall. He sent the game to OT and the Captain did not let this team give up.
Andre Burakovsky: B – Great play along the boards to beat the Bruins player for the puck and then shoot it across to MacDermid.
Mikko Rantanen: B – He looked good on the power play with smooth passes and was in front of the net when Girard shot the bouncing puck. Impressive backchecking late in the game too.
Darcy Kuemper: B – Tough to say any of those goals were his fault. The team didn’t play the best defensive game but nailed things down after the second period.
