So, that makes it eight in a row for the Avalanche over the Detroit Red Wings. Ho-hum.

Those words would have provoked fire and fury from the Red Wings fan base back in the olden days, but the passion has been missing from Hockeytown for quite a while now. Not their fault, as the Red Wings have been every bit as bad (and, statistically, worse) than the Avs in their own In-the-Wilderness days after the great rivalry that riveted the hockey world from approximately 1996-2008. Hey, someone wrote a book about it, and it’s still in the top 100 in Amazon hockey sales, 16 years after publication.

The Avs went into Little Caesars Arena tonight and beat the Wings 5-2, to get back on the winning track after that awful game in Boston Monday.
