Avalanche Grades In Season Finale loss to Wild (+)

O baby, baby, it’s a wild world

One last grading from the regular season

Jack Johnson:  B – Played some big minutes tonight with guys resting. Johnson and Johnson were 2nd and 3rd in ice time for defensemen.

Erik Johnson: B –  I thought he had a pretty good night. He had six blocked shots, a couple of hits and over 20 minutes played.

Andrew Cogliano: C – He played well on the penalty but the two penalties are rough. Hopefully he’s getting it out of his system before next week.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel : D – For such a physical game, I am surprised that he was quiet.

Alex Newhook: C- – This certainly wasn’t a good game for really anyone and it really didn’t matter. He finished the game a minus two.

Logan O’Connor: B – Loved the physical aspect of his game and the first period tilt after the hit. Hopefully he keeps the energy up going into playoffs.

Jacob MacDonald: B- –  He played close to 20 minutes and had six shots on net. Not bad, not bad at all.

J.T. Compher: C- – 44% in the faceoff dot and a minus two. Time. For. Playoffs.

Josh Manson: C – He’s been playing well recently but he had a couple of giveaways and a penalty tonight.

Darren Helm : D –  Fairly quiet night as well.

Sam Girard: B- – 25 plus minutes played. He looked decent out there with five shot attempts. He also contributed to the penalty fund.

Kurtis MacDermid: C- – I just didn’t see the kneeing call. I understand it, but I just didn’t see it. Hopefully Foligno is ok.

Ben Meyers : C+ – I really like this kids energy on the ice. He seems to be the first one to the puck and constantly skating hard.

Artturi Lehkonen: C- –  He also finished a minus three with a penalty tonight. He had three blocked shots and that was about it.

Nico Sturm: C –  Pretty much a blank stat line against his former team. I thought he looked well on the penalty kill.

Nazem Kadi : B+ I thought this was a really important game for him to find some sort of a groove and he had a beautiful goal.

Andre Burakovsky : C – Just not a lot from everyone tonight. It’ll be a mindset shift for the guys to play some meaningful hockey.

Mikko Rantanen: B+ Similar to Kadri, I thought this was game was important to get something going. He pass to Kadri was just it.

Pavel Francouz: C – Very shaky in the first period but he locked it down in the second and third. He’ll see playing time in the playoffs and those types of first periods can’t happen.
