Alexandar Georgiev Starts Against New York Rangers, Other Avalanche Lineup Notes (+)
NEW YORK – Hello from the Big Apple, where the defending Stanley Cup champion (I say that just to get you guys pumped up a bit) Colorado Avalanche play the New York Rangers tonight in the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. Avalanche goalie Alexandar Georgiev will get the start in goal for Colorado, as he’ll play against the team that traded him away over the summer.
New York, by the way, seems mostly back to normal. People are everywhere on the sidewalks, and I almost got run over by a car running a light while crossing a street. And, I might have gotten flipped the bird too. Ah, good to be back.
Yours truly once was a resident of New York City, from roughly age zero to age 4. We lived in Greenwich Village, and I still have a few vague memories of living in a tenement apartment. I also remember watching the Moon Landing, in 1969, from that apartment. Did I mention I’m getting up there in age?
Here’s Georgie doing some drill stuff this morning, by the boards. I haven’t seen that before I don’t think.

Georgie will face last year’s Vezina winner, Igor Shesterkin. Should be a good game. Avalanche are -107 favorites at SuperBook Colorado to win.
