The Colorado Avalanche have always been a top team in the NHL and have won multiple Stanley Cups, including the latest. They have a strong farm system which has produced many great players. The Avalanche are known for developing great players and have a history of drafting well. They have a rich history of success and have developed many great players. 1. Joe Sakic

Joe Sakic was one of the best players in the history of the Colorado Avalanche. He was a key player on the team that won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and was named the MVP of the playoffs. He was also a two-time Olympian, winning a gold medal in 2002. Sakic was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.

2. Patrick Roy

Patrick Roy played goalie for the Colorado Avalanche from 1995 to 2003. He was one of the best players on the team and helped lead them to the Stanley Cup in 1996. He was named the MVP of the Stanley Cup Finals that year. He was also named the NHL Goalie of the Year three times.

3. Peter Forsberg

In 1998, the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup. A large part of their success was due to the play of Peter Forsberg. He was a great skater and had a great shot. He was also a great playmaker and could set up his teammates for scoring chances. 4. Adam Foote

Throughout his 20-year career, Adam Foote was known as one of the best Colorado Avalanche players. He was a key part of the team’s Stanley Cup run in 1996 and was known for his physical play and leadership. He was named captain of the team in 2011 and held the position until his retirement the next year. Foote was inducted into the Avalanche Hall of Fame in 2016.

5. Ray Bourque

Ray Bourque is considered one of the best Colorado Avalanche players in franchise history – even though he didn’t play there long. But the team went 91-31-15 with him and won a Stanley Cup. He was drafted in the first round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins and played 21 seasons with the Bruins before being traded to the Avalanche in 2000. He helped lead the Avalanche to their second Stanley Cup championship in 2001 and retired after the season. Bourque was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.

6. Milan Hejduk

Milan Hejduk was one of the best Colorado Avalanche players during his time with the team. He was a part of the team that won the Stanley Cup in 2001 and was a key player on the team throughout his career. Hejduk was a great goal scorer and was able to put up good numbers despite playing on some poor Avalanche teams. He was also a great leader and was always one of the first guys to stand up for his teammates. Hejduk was always a class act and was a big reason why the Avalanche were successful during his time with the team.

7. NATHAN MACKINNON

MacKinnon has been with the team since 2013 and was a main player in leading the Avs to a third Stanley Cup last June. He also became the highest-paid player in the NHL this summer ($12.6 million). He likely will finish in the top five of all Avalanche scorers when his career is through.
