Pavel Francouz Starts Against Carolina Tonight, Avalanche Lines and D Pairs

Published

on

Pavel Francouz

The Avalanche got out of town just before the snow hit, but they’ll still face Hurricanes tonight. Pavel Francouz will be the goalie who faces them, too.

Frankie got the win against Carolina in Denver last week, so why not stick with the hot hand, right? Anton Blidh, recalled yesterday by the Avalanche, will also be in the lineup and Bednar had some good words for him.

These are the expected lines for the Avalanche tonight:

Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Rantanen

Newhook-Rodrigues-Kaut

Cogliano-Compher-O’Connor

Superstreak Bonus!

Hunt*-Megna-Blidh

Defense

Makar-Toews

MacDonald-Manson

Englund-EJ

* may move up in the lineup.

The Avalanche are +130 underdogs against the Hurricanes, at SuperBook Colorado. Stop by Bender’s in Westminster for an Avalanche watch party of sorts. It’s THE hockey bar in the Denver area.

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this..”

Ricardo

Excellent. The famous Dater reverse jinx is in place.

I know we are way too early in the season to get caught up on performance, but is there any chance the Avs would consider trading Newhook in the second half of the year? Perhaps for a slightly older but more polished Center/wing in his 20s. If so, what about Filip Chytil or Oliver Wahlstrom from NYI? Sometimes a change of scenery can really help a guy.

I think Englund has played well. Nice size. Doesn’t get pushed around.

Tom

Tom,
You guys could be right but in a way do you think it’s Bednar’s way of making sure the Avalanche play well defensively no matter who is in goal? To me, the Avalanche fall to sleep defensively and still are not disciplined overall, especially the super stars? Sometimes, I worry about “Frankie” too but what the hell they need to get the job done when he is in there as well. He was good against the Hurricanes last time out!
