Evan’s Daily: Avalanche Trade For Eller, Chychrun Finally Escapes Arizona

NHL Trade

I’m not sure there’s going to be anyone left to trade come Friday when the actual NHL Trade deadline is here.

On Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche made a move, acquiring veteran center Lars Eller from the Washington Capitals. Eller flew from Anaheim to Denver and barely made it in time to make his debut with the team.

There were plenty of other trades made, but the biggest one was Arizona finally dealing Jakob Chychrun. The 25 year old defensemen finally is escaping the Coyotes organization, and is headed to the Ottawa Senators for a lot less than people expected.

All that and more in a Thursday edition of Evan’s Daily.

In Eller’s first game with the squad, the Avalanche came out flat, and the hole they put themselves in was too big to dig out of.

After the game, Eller spoke to the media for the first time. You can watch the video here.

Big fan of the move by the Senators, going out and getting Jakob Chychrun from Arizona. The Coyotes waited way too long, and ended up taking less than what everyone expected them to get.

The Penguins moved out players to go and acquire Mikael Granlund from the Predators. Read Dan’s breakdown of their trades. He’s, uh, not a fan.

The Canucks picked up a first round pick for Bo Horvat weeks ago. On Wednesday, they flipped that pick and a second round pick for…Filip Hronek? He’s a good player, but no one has any clue what the Canucks are trying to do.

In non-trade news, the Red Wings locked up their captain Dylan Larkin to an eight year extension.
