Evan’s NHL Daily: Habs Trying To Trade Up, Lindholm Decision Soon?
The Montreal Canadiens are talking to seemingly every team in front of them at the NHL Draft to see what it would cost for them to trade up, and they might actually have the ammo to pull it off. And in Calgary, it appears we’ll know one way or the other what’s going to happen with Elias Lindholm by the draft.
With the Avalanche, things have been very quiet, but it can’t (and won’t) stay that way for long.
All that and more in this Thursday edition of Evan’s Daily.
Colorado Hockey Now
The Avalanche have yet to make a move at the NHL level, and it’s been 45 days since their season ended. Expect a lot of news from them over the next few weeks.
We’re trying something new at CHN, and we want fans to get involved. If you were in charge of the team, would you trade a defenseman for forward help this summer? And if so, would you move Devon Toews, Bowen Byram, or Samuel Girard?
On Thursday, I’ll be interviewing the Director of Scouting for Scouting Service, so look for that interview on CHN by the end of the week.
NHL Trade Talk
The Athletic is reporting that the Montreal Canadiens have talked to Anaheim about what it would cost to trade up. This is in addition to them previously having been rumored to talk to San Jose about the same. These sorts of moves rarely happen, but a big trade at the draft would be fun.
On FlamesNation, Frank Seravalli believes the Calgary Flames will either have an agreement to sign or trade Elias Lindholm by draft week. We’ve already discussed his fit in Colorado, but that would be a big name on the trade market in the NHL.
National Hockey Now
Pittsburgh: The most underrated NHL player over the last 20 years, Jason Spezza, is now the assistant GM for the Penguins, a team that doesn’t even have a GM right now.
Boston: Will the Bruins buy out Mike Reilly?
Florida: More on the injuries the Panthers were dealing with.
San Jose: More what’s true and what isn’t true on the Sharks draft plans.
Nashville: The Predators are exploring the trade market, and Barry Trotz has apparently been a busy man.
