Avalanche johansen nhl trade

Two parties have come together, and an NHL scout is in agreement – we have a good base for what an Erik Karlsson to the Penguins trade could look like.

With the Colorado Avalanche, we took questions for a mailbag, including whether or not Ryan Johansen still has the goods to be a second line center in the NHL.

All that and more in this Thursday edition of Evan’s Daily.

Colorado Hockey Now

We took a handful of questions, and got so many questions, that another mailbag will be soon to follow. Among the questions, can Ryan Johansen handle the 2C job? Who is going to play on the penalty kill next year? Should the team look to add Cal Foote as a free agent? And more. You can read it all here.

On Thursday, we’ll have six bargain UFA’s that might make sense for the Avalanche.

Around the NHL

It sure sounds like Erik Karlsson is either headed to the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Carolina Hurricanes. Our beat writers in Pittsburgh and San Jose came together to come up with a potential trade between the two teams that might make sense. An NHL scout looked at the deal, and felt like it was even. You can read all about that here.

In addition, Sheng in San Jose looked at what a Carolina deal might look like.

National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh: Who the Penguins would have to include in any deal for Karlsson.

Boston: The Bruins went out and signed someone I thought made a lot of sense for Colorado – Jesper Boqvist. The 24 year old signed a one year deal for league minimum with the Bruins.

Florida: For the first time since leaving the team for personal reasons back in February, Spencer Knight spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Vegas: Why next season is so important for these three Golden Knights players.

Calgary: Is excitement returning to the Flames locker room?
