Oskar Olausson is getting another shot in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche.

On Tuesday morning, the Avalanche announced they had recalled the former first round pick, so expect to see him in the lineup tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. Is he replacing someone healthy, or is there an injury we don’t know about? That remains to be seen.

Prior to the game against the Kings, Jared Bednar said the team had some players that were going to be game-time decisions, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s an injury or two up front.

In 20 games with the Colorado Eagles this season, Olausson has five goals and three assists. A lot of those points have come recently. In the first month, he picked up just one assist, but has since gained some momentum, which has likely led to the call-up. Olausson had a really strong training camp and made an impression on the coaching staff.

The 21 year old winger, who was selected 28th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft, played his first NHL game last year, but his ice-time was pretty limited after some injuries forced the Avalanche to shorten the bench.

Stay tuned to Colorado Hockey now this afternoon for updates on where Olausson may slot in and who he could be replacing.
