Deen’s Daily: Avalanche Still Looking for Goaltending?; Red Wings Goaltending Takes a Hit

Published

on

It’s been two days since the Avalanche shipped Justus Annunen to the Nashville Predators in a deal for backup goalie Scott Wedgewood. The 32-year-old veteran was the backup in Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Edmonton but will likely get a lot of playing time when Colorado begins a stretch of 11 games in 20 nights on Tuesday.

As things started to settle in post-trade, the thoughts started to come to me on what the trade means for the Avs. On one hand, The team likely thinks really highly of Ilya Nabokov. But on the other hand, it makes me feel like more might be coming.

It’s purely speculation on my behalf, but is the acquisition of Wedgwood the first of two goalie trades before the March 7 trade deadline? You can read my full thoughts on the matter here.
