It’s the moment Avs fans and all hockey fans alike have been waiting for — Gabriel Landeskog will play his first NHL game after missing the last three seasons due to a knee injury.

The 32-year-old forward suited up for Game 2 and skated in pregame warmups but did not play at American Airlines Center. He confirmed with ESPN that he will play against the Dallas Stars in Game 3 at Ball Arena.

The last game the Avalanche captain played was the Stanley Cup Final winner on June 26, 2022 in Tampa Bay. He was dressed in burgundy for morning skate so he is expected to play on the second power-play unit.

In warmups, Landeskog skated with Charlie Coyle and Joel Kiviranta on the third line.
