The Avalanche are partnering with local channels 9News and My20 for the second consecutive year, it was announced on Monday.
Altitude Sports will broadcast 20 Avalanche and 20 Denver Nuggets NBA games over-the-air on the two stations throughout the regular season. The two sides had a similar agreement last year, which was a big hit for local fans.
All remaining games that are not nationally broadcasted are available on Altitude Sports and the Altitude+ app.
It’s definitely another step in the right direction. Last year felt like Kroenke Sports & Entertainment was throwing the local fans a freebie after years of being unable to strike a deal for Altitude Sports to be available on all cable providers.
But the fact that it’s been extended for a second year in a row is great news.
“After last year’s tremendous success as the official over-the-air broadcast home of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, we’re excited to continue this partnership for another season,” said Mark Cornetta, senior vice president, media operations, TEGNA. “The response last year exceeded our expectations, and we’re proud to once again provide Denver fans with the ability to watch their beloved Nuggets and Avs play.”
