Mackenzie Blackwood’s AHL Conditioning Assignment Ends
Blackwood’s conditioning loan to the Eagles was terminated on Friday
Mackenzie Blackwood’s conditioning assignment with the Avalanche’s AHL club was terminated on Friday.
Blackwood was assigned to the Colorado Eagles on a conditioning loan while the Avs were out of town on their two-game road trip. It allowed their goalie an opportunity to practice in a team setting while staying back in Denver to rehab.
It’s unclear what the status is for Blackwood right now, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be available Saturday when the Avs host the Boston Bruins. The team is off on Friday, but will practice on Sunday.
We’ll likely see him on the ice with the Avalanche over the weekend, whether in morning skate, practice, or both.

Blackwood has not played a game this year after spending all of training camp, preseason, and the first 10 days of the regular season rehabbing from an injury. Without him, Scott Wedgewood has been excellent between the pipes.
Wedgewood is 4-0-1, boasting a 1.56 goals against average and a .939 save percentage, while playing every game so far this season.
