The Colorado Avalanche (19-1-6) open a four-game road trip at UBS Arena against the New York Islanders (14-10-3). Puck drop is scheduled for 5:12 p.m. MT.

Key Stories to Watch

  • Brock Nelson makes his first return to Long Island since being traded to the Avalanche ahead of last season’s trade deadline. Nelson was drafted by the Islanders in 2010 and spent 12 seasons as a key piece of that team.
  • Scott Wedgewood left Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury. He traveled with the Avs but will not dress on Thursday. Mackenzie Blackwood gets the nod with Trent Miner as his backup.
  • The Islanders have had significant injury issues since their last game against Colorado. Both Alex Romanov (5-6 months) and Kyle Palmieri (6-8 months) are out long-term.
  • The Avs are 14-0-3 in their last 17 games. Their franchise record for consecutive games without a regulation loss is 19, set during the Stanley Cup-winning 2021-22 season.
  • New York is 2-3-1 in its last six games and has struggled to score. Patrick Roy’s club has just eight goals in that stretch.
