Scott Wedgewood and the rest of the hopefuls await a call on Dec. 31. Quinn Hughes made his debut, and the Vancouver Canucks played their first game without the star defenseman. Also, the Penguins did the unthinkable again.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — December 15.

Colorado Hockey Now

Wedgewood will find out on Dec. 31 if he’s heading to the Olympics with Team Canada.

Around The NHL

Quinn Hughes: The Minnesota Wild rocked the Boston Bruins 6-2 in Hughes’ debut. Hughes scored, and the Wild’s top stars were also on their game. If I’m Dallas, I’m taking a peak at the standings behind me as much as I’m looking up at Colorado. The Wild look like they’re trying to secure home-ice advantage in the first round, regardless of who they play.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: They did it again. The Pens blew another multi-goal lead and lost. Here’s what was said, and what wasn’t, after the latest collapse.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Canucks also won in their first game without Hughes, and their new defenseman also played a big part in it. Coincidentally, their victory came against the other two Hughes brothers.
