Toews, Colton, and Landeskog Join Avalanche’s Practice

The Avalanche remained in Toronto following their early matinee 4-1 victory on Sunday. The team is scheduled to begin a three-game stretch over four days on Wednesday against the Senators.

Ahead of their trip to Ottawa, Colorado practiced on Tuesday, and all three of their injured skaters on the trip, Ross Colton, Gabe Landeskog, and Devon Toews, participated.

Head coach Jared Bednar told reporters in Toronto that Toews will not play on Wednesday. He did not take contact despite remaining on the ice for the entire skate. The Avalanche are going to call up a defenseman to join them in Ottawa.

Meanwhile, Colton, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, has not yet been ruled out for the contest. Colton has missed the last two games. If he plays, he’ll likely replace Taylor Makar on the third line alongside Jack Drury and Gavin Brindley.

As for Landeskog, Bednar told reporters that he’s been skating for a few days now. Landeskog was injured on Jan. 4 in Florida after crashing into the Panthers’ net while fighting for a loose puck. The 33-year-old captain has not yet been ruled out for the upcoming Winter Olympics.

He also hasn’t ben ruled out yet for an Avalanche return before the team begins its lengthy break on Feb. 5.
