The day has finally come. It’s NHL trade deadline day.

Thursday was a very quiet day for the Colorado Avalanche. They were off after a tough loss the night before, and will be back on the ice on Friday before leaving for Dallas.

Around the NHL, things were still happening. Arizona took on another contract. Boston somehow keeps finding ways to get better. And Dallas, who sits ahead of the Avalanche in the standings, went out and picked up a scoring forward.

All that and more in an NHL trade deadline edition of Evan’s Daily.

Avalanche Turning Point: In a Giving Mood (+)

Just one day before the NHL trade deadline, I took a look at what the Avalanche might still have up their sleeve. I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t at least one more move coming.

NHL Trades

The Red Wings traded Tyler Bertuzzi to the Boston Bruins for a first round pick. For Boston, the rich just get richer.

The move comes just one day after the Red Wings signed Dylan Larkin to a long extension. He had mixed emotions after the trade was completed.

Max Domi, who the Avalanche have been linked to the past few years around this time, was dealt to Dallas. Never really been a fan of his game, so don’t mind seeing him go elsewhere.

Arizona continues to be an embarrassment, as they once again traded for the contract of a player who likely will never play again. This time, it’s Jakub Voracek.

Edmonton actually made a decent move, picking up a solid bottom six forward in Nick Bjugstad.

Around the NHL

Acquiring Bertuzzi wasn’t the only big move Boston made. They signed David Pastrnak to a massive eight year extension early in the day that will kick in next season.
