Colorado Avalanche legend and former Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote is remaining in the NHL for the upcoming season.
Foote is joining head coach Andre Tourigny behind the bench with the Utah Mammoth after landing a multi-year contract as an assistant coach.
Tourigny also has ties to the Avs, as he was once an assistant coach on Patrick Roy’s staff from 2014-16.
Foote spent last season running the Canucks bench after previously serving as an assistant for Rick Tocchet. He was fired after one season following Vancouver’s last-place finish. His assistants last season were Brett McLean and Scott Young — two of his former Avalanche teammates from his playing days.
Before his move to Vancouver, Foote spent time around the Avalanche and helped with Altitude TV broadcasts in 2023. He also held various volunteer coaching jobs in both the Roy and Jared Bednar eras.
Before retiring in 2011, Foote served as a captain for the Avalanche and played almost 1000 games with the team. He won the Stanley Cup in both 1996 and 2001 and eventually had his No. 52 retired by the Avs.
