The Avalanche will not have Cale Makar in the lineup in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final, head coach Jared Bednar confirmed on Wednesday.
Makar has been playing through an upper-body injury all playoffs. It’s likely related to a shoulder injury he sustained late in the regular season, and it was reaggravated in Game 1 against the Minnesota Wild.
Bednar said Makar is doing better and is listed as day-to-day. The superstar defenseman skated on his own before morning skate.
Jack Ahcan enters the lineup in his place.
The Avs host the Vegas Golden Knights at 6 p.m. MT at Ball Arena.
