The Colorado Avalanche are only 11 weeks away from regular-season hockey. The league announced on Wednesday that the Avs will host the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Ball Arena to open the 2026-27 season. The game will be broadcast on TNT, with puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. MT.

This marks the first year of the new collective bargaining agreement, which includes a shortened four-game preseason, 84 regular-season games, and games played in September. The league’s official start date is on Sept. 29.

It will be the third time in four seasons that the Avs open their regular season against the Kings. Last year and in 2023, the two teams met at Crypto.com Arena. This is also the first time since 2022 that the Avalanche will begin their season at home.

The remainder of the 84-game calendar will be announced on Thursday.
