Report card time, after a solid Avalanche win over Nashville:
Bowen Byram : A – Welcome back Bo! He was jumping into the play as if he never missed a game. One goal and 22 minutes tonight.
Erik Johnson : B – The silent leader. Nothing flashy and he had a couple of clears on the penalty kill that were key.
Devon Toews : A- Love the big slapper from the point. He had a great game breaking out of his own zone. Added a couple of assists and 26:07 minutes on the ice.
Cale Makar : A – Do I have to give this guy a grade? Added three assists tonight.
(Updating his point total throughout the game is entertaining *delete delete delete*)
Jayson Megna : C – Took a late third-period penalty. Foul, but no harm.
Valeri Nichushkin : B – He had a quiet game except for his goal from Mikko Rantanen. He keeps on producing though, as that was his 5th goal of the season.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel : B – Really good energy this game. He was trying to make a play every shift. He had a nice pass to Jost on his goal. This line deserved it tonight.
Tyson Jost : B – Drew the fourth penalty of the game by simply not giving up on the play in the offensive zone and then had his second goal of the season. Cherry on top.
Alex Newhook : B – No mistakes and played hard. He finished with 12:56 minutes played and a plus one.
Logan O’Connor : B – Really clean passes with Rantanen and Landeskog. He always seems to be making a play on the penalty kill and had another chance tonight.
Ryan Murray : NA – Left after the first period. Only had one shift and did not return with a lower body injury.
Darren Helm : C – Quiet, though mostly solid game with couple of shots on net.
Sam Girard : C – Didn’t really notice him out there tonight, which is odd because the team played with five defensemen after the first. He finished with 23:46 of ice time.
Kurtis MacDermid : C – Noticed the physical side of his game tonight but besides that, meh. I did enjoy the smile from the bench after the Landeskog tussle though.
Nazem Kadri : B – The point streak ended last night but he got an assist on the second goal of the game and Mikko’s third goal of the game. Let’s just start another streak. Two assists tonight to start it off.
Gabriel Landeskog : A – Beautiful pass to Rantanen on the opening goal and an even better pass to Byram. That line was flying tonight. Things got feisty at the end of the second when he didn’t like Mattias Ekholm taking off Mikko Rantanen’s helmet.
Andre Burakovsky : C – Ping! Hit the post in the first period. He played well on the power play unit. Just couldn’t quite get things going.
Mikko Rantanen : A – Got the hatty! Finished with four points. 3rd career hat trick for The Moose.
Jonas Johansson : A – Had a really solid game. He had a tipped one that got past him, but there wasn’t much he could do on that one. I was really impressed with his game. He made a couple of big saves when the team needed him.
