In their second selection of the 2026 NHL Draft, the Avalanche used the 74th overall pick on forward Beckett Hamilton.
Hamilton, 18, had a breakout season with the Western Hockey League’s Red Deer Rebels. He had 24 goals and 62 points in 67 games after posting just 25 points the previous year. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-shot from Humboldt, Saskatchewan, found the scoresheet in 25 of the Rebels’ final 32 games.
The Avs acquired the 74th pick in the trade that sent Ross Colton to the Nashville Predators more than a week ago. Before that trade, Colorado didn’t have any picks in the first three rounds. Instead, Hamilton was the second of the Avs’ nine picks.
