The Colorado Avalanche made another trade, and it was, once again, with former general manager Chris MacFarland. Also, Alex Tuch is off the market early after the latest UFA sign-and-trade deal.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — June 25.
Colorado Hockey Now
The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators made another trade on Wednesday. Again, Chris MacFarland is taking an Avalanche forward with him to Nashville. This time it’s center Jack Drury.
Here’s what the Avalanche are banking on with one their additions. I will say, it’s nice to see them trade for younger players with high upside. It’s been a while since the Avs have brought in someone they can unlock, something they often did in Sakic’s first tenure as GM with the likes of Valeri Nichushkin, Andre Burakovsky, etc.
Around The NHL
Alex Tuch: Another top-of-the-list UFA is off the market before July 1. Like Darren Raddysh last week, Alex Tuch has opted for a sign-and-trade before the official start of the UFA period. The Buffalo Sabres traded his rights to the Washington Capitals, where Tuch will make $10.5 million against the salary cap for eight seasons.
Tuch joins Jordan Kyrou as the latest additions of the Caps’ top six.
