Colorado Avalanche head coach bet on his other goalie, and it paid off. The Avs were missing two big pieces, but the depth stepped up. Also, Michael McCarron was rattled after a sequence with Josh Manson. Can he ever let it go?

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — May 12.

Colorado Hockey Now

What a game from the Avalanche. They are now one win away from the Western Conference Final and can get there if they defeat the Wild in Game 5 in Denver on Wednesday.

Bednar stuck with Blackwood after he entered Game 3 in a relief appearance. It was a move many questioned coming in, but Blackwood was up for the challenge.

The Avalanche played Game 4 without two key pieces of their lineup. They both participated in morning skate before it was announced just ahead of puck drop that they are both out with upper-body injuries.

McCarron randomly called Manson a dirty player with a bad reputation around the league. I’m not sure where it came from or why he felt that was the case. Manson has never been suspended.

After the game, McCarron was even more rattled. It was quite the back and forth between the two. In the end, Manson got the last laugh, as his team came up with the big win.
