About a month ago, Chris MacFarland was likely going to be tasked with trading Ross Colton in the offseason to clear cap space. On Tuesday, MacFarland acquired Colton from the Avalanche.

He made the move with current Avs GM Joe Sakic. Last week, Sakic made it clear that he’s very comfortable with where the Avalanche’s goaltending currently stands. He traded one of the depth goalies in the Colton trade.

John Tortorella: The Vegas Golden Knights finally made it official. John Tortorella will not be returning as head coach in 2026-27, effectively making him a free agent on July 1. As for the Knights, they might already have their next guy in the organization, coaching their AHL team.
