The Colorado Avalanche were reportedly considering a larger front office before their GM departed for Nashville. The Minnesota Wild are going to need a new forward to replace a veteran who is leaving the team. Also, trade destinations for Dylan Larkin that might make sense, and a crazy conversation that took place after a blockbuster deal was submitted a minute too late at the March trade deadline.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — June 6.

Colorado Hockey Now

We have another layer of the Colorado Avalanche’s front office to discuss after the latest report. According to Pierre LeBrun, Chris MacFarland was in talks with Rob Blake earlier this season for a potential position in the Avs’ front office starting next season. MacFarland is no longer with the Avalanche, as we all know. And Blake is no longer an option, either.

When it comes to NHL Awards, we have so far seen Cale Makar finish second in Norris Trophy votes, Jared Bednar fourth in Jack Adams, and Brock Nelson third in Selke Trophy votes. Nelson was one of five Avalanche forwards to make Selke ballots.

Around The NHL

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: What would it cost for the Penguins to nab Dylan Larkin?

Montreal Hockey Now: This is a crazy story about how the Matthew Knies trade fell apart and the conversation between Habs GM Kent Hughes and Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving that followed.

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers are reportedly closing in on an extension for goalie Dan Vladar. How much will they pay him?

New Jersey Hockey Now: One condition that would need to be met for a Larkin trade to NJ to make sense.

Florida Hockey Now: The Panthers have a history of swinging for the fences on the trade market. Is Larkin next?

Minnesota Wild: This one somewhat caught me by surprise. According to Michael Russo, 35-year-old forward Marcus Johansson is leaving the NHL to sign a one-year deal in Sweden. Johansson was great for Minnesota, recording 49 regular-season points and adding four goals in the postseason. He had three goals in the five games against the Avalanche.
