Well, everybody can exhale now.

While the official prognosis for injured all-star Avalanche right wing Mikko Rantanen is “week to week”, I followed up a bit more with coach Jared Bednar on that and here’s what he said: “Like, I can say, I don’t think it’s going to be a 4-6 week injury, I’ll give you that. We’re hoping it’s going to be significantly sooner than that.”

Phew, right?

This would seem to rule out any possibility of a torn ACL or drastically torn knee cartilage elsewhere. Bednar did say that the team wants to see how Mikko’s left leg responds in the next few days, and by then a more precise timetable could be offered.
