Dater’s Daily Links: The view from LA and some Joe Thornton rumblings
Some murmuring going on out there about Joe Thornton maybe moving by the Feb. 24 trade deadline (NBC)
My take: I will not be surprised if he goes back to Boston. That would be a great story, either way. I will also not be at all surprised if he winds up on the Colorado Avalanche. To me, he’d be a nice fit here. He’d be short-term insurance for Nazem Kadri, and he’d be a potential playoff run replacement for a guy like a Tyson Jost or a Vlad Kamenev. Look, we all want Jost to succeed. But here’s a fact: He’s gone 30 straight games without a goal entering tonight’s Stadium Series game. Stay tuned.
Speaking of the game tonightd here’s some perspective from the Los Angeles side (LA Times)

(Will he be able to play again? It seems unclear at the moment. But at least he’s alive and doing much better. He’s had a good, long career as it is. The Blues may, obviously, be in the market for a D-man by the deadline. He was a big part of their team still).
