The older I’ve gotten, the less I like to quote people anonymously. I like it much better when people put their actual name to their words. I don’t always buy into the idea that being anonymous makes you “speak more freely and honestly.” Very often, being anonymous allows people to s— talk more freely and cut down others behind their back, with no accountability. But, hey, sometimes you have to play the game too, and so I have a story here where two NHL scouts and one NHL executive weigh in on the Avalanche, their chances against the Blues and, in some ways, their Stanley Cup chances overall. There’s no s— talking here, just opinions about a hockey team. Both of the scouts are pro scouts, and the NHL exec is in the upper reaches of management with another team.
