Dater’s Daily: Avalanche Players Getting Out In Finland; Flames Choke to Kraken

It seems like forever since I have been at the rink. October 21st was the last time I was at the rink for any hockey-related event. I swear it is like an addiction, so I will be heading up to Loveland on Thursday to report on the Colorado Eagles. The Avalanche still have two more days until they play in Finland for two games and then they will be back home against Nashville on the 10th. Avalanche players seem to be getting out and about in Finland, as seen below. Also, let’s take a look at the rest of the league, The Kraken put out some Flames last night and much more!

As mentioned, Avalanche players aren’t just sitting in their hotel:

  • Calgary Hockey Now: The Seattle Kraken come back to win 5-4 against the red hot Calgary Flames. What a gag by Calgary. 4-2 lead late in the game and they lose.
  • Boston Hockey Now: The Boston Bruins won last night in stirring, comeback fashion, but lost defenseman Derek Forbort and, later in the game, goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
  • Colorado Hockey Now: You can watch the Avalanche play their Global Series games on the silver screen at the IMAX in Westminster, Colorado. Also, don’t forget to postgame a brew or two at Bender’s, right across the street. It is THE hockey bar in the Denver area, and Dater will also be there holding court after the game.
  • Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights are off to the best start they have had in franchise history, without their starting goaling in the crease.
  • Washington Hockey Now: The Capitals lost their third player in as many days as Beck Malenstyn left last night’s contest with an injury.
  • NHL: As the Maple Leafs struggle to get their feet under them, their coach’s job security is the last thing they are thinking about.
  • ESPN: The Coyotes are loving the crowd energy in the new Mullet Arena. They got a great win last night over the Panthers.
  • San Jose Hockey Now: Erik Karlsson enters the Norris conversation with his first career hat trick.
  • TSN: The Oilers rack up seven goals in a win against Nashville last night. Congratulations to those who picked the Oil on the puck line, like Dater did.
  • Detroit Hockey Now: University of Denver and Red Wings prospect, Carter Mazur has been named the NCHC Player of the Month.
