NEWS: Cale Makar Out At Least Two Games After Blindside Hit by Carter

Cale Makar managed to return to the game Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he won’t be playing for the rest of the road trip.

On Thursday morning, head coach Jared Bednar announced that Makar will miss at least the next two games as a result of the hit he took from Jeff Carter.

The Colorado Avalanche are calling it an “upper body injury”, but I think anyone who saw the video can tell what part of the upper body got hit. As someone who has suffered head injuries in the past, symptoms don’t always pop up immediately. The Avalanche just have to hope it’s not too serious with Makar, but head injuries should always be taken seriously.

The NHL decided not to discipline Carter in any way after reviewing the hit. No penalty was called on the play either. The NHL says they want to get rid of hits like this, but then do nothing about it. Now one of the best players in the world will miss some time.

The Avalanche got Bowen Byram back on Tuesday night, but as has been tradition this season, one player comes back and another one seems to go down.

The Colorado Avalanche will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday evening. It’s a rematch of the Stanley Cup finals from last season. The game starts at 5 PM MST.
