Jeff Carter Finally Speaks About His Hit on Cale Makar

It took a few days, but Jeff Carter finally was asked about his hit on Cale Makar.

The good folks at Pittsburgh Hockey Now provided me with the audio of Carter after the Penguins were beat down 6-0 by the Los Angeles Kings.

Granted, players typically aren’t happy after their team just took a beating on the ice. Carter was probably even less happy having to answer a question about a hit from several days ago.

Carter starts out a little contentious after he’s asked about the hit.

“Did you watch it?” he asked the reporter.

Then he continued.

“So the puck was behind the net. I was tracking the puck. He hits it out of the air. I turn to the puck, he turns to the puck, and unfortunately I clipped his shoulder, chin, whatever it is. If you watch the video, I’m literally tracking the puck the whole time. I don’t know what else you want me to say.”

I’m not sure this answer will appease Avalanche fans, but at least we got to hear Carter’s side of the story.

The good news is that Makar has been skating back in Denver. A timeline for an injury like that will always be hard to pin down, but the fact that he’s skating is encouraging.

Stay tuned to CHN for more updates on Makar’s health.
