Evan’s NHL Daily: Stützle Home Run, Lehkonen Update

Did you know the NHL is currently in Sweden? I found out Thursday afternoon during Avalanche practice, and managed to get home just in time to see Tim Stützle hit a game-winning home run.



With the Colorado Avalanche, Artturi Lehkonen’s dad gave a small update on what his son is currently dealing with, and it doesn’t sound great.

Colorado Hockey Now

Looking back at the big win over the Ducks, including another hot start to the season for Logan O’Connor.

Unfortunately, not great news for Artturi Lehkonen, who is currently in a neck brace according to his dad.

Around The NHL

There are four NHL teams over in Sweden right now, and they’ll all play two games each. The first of those games happened on Thursday, and it was a bizarre one. The Senators got off to a 4-0 lead, but let the Red Wings get right back into it with four goals of their own. Then the third period was a penalty-fest, and yet, no more goals.

It looked like the teams were headed to a shootout in front of the Swedish fans, but Tim Stützle had other ideas.

I know he’s wide open, so he had plenty of time to wind up, but it’s still one of the coolest goals I’ve seen in recent memory. I’m not quite sure what James Reimer was doing in net, as it looks like he’s terrified of the puck, but that’s an awesome way to end the first of four NHL games in Sweden.
