Key Stories to Watch
- Scott Wedgewood gets the nod in goal. His tandem teammate Mackenzie Blackwood made his season debut in San Jose on Saturday, when the Avs lost 3-2 in overtime to the young, high-flying Sharks.
- Colorado called up forward Tristen Nielsen on Monday, one week after he was signed to an NHL deal. Nielsen will make his NHL debut on the fourth line, filling in the spot that Taylor Makar held in Saturday’s loss.
- The Tampa Bay Lightning started the season alarmingly slow, going 1-4-2 in their first seven games. They followed it up with five consecutive wins, which gives them the longest active winning streak in the league.
- This is the first time Gabe Landeskog will play against the Tampa Bay Lightning since winning the Stanley Cup in 2022.

Is there a reason 4th line keeps juggling?
doesn’t matter if they aren’t going to get much ice time
Brindley in concussion protocol
I think Taylor wasca gift to the Makar family. Guschkin was interesting call up but wasn’t used. Nielsen gets his shot because he flat out earned it. I honestly see Nielsen as a Swiss army knife that could stick around. He could potentially play on any of the 4 lines. Guschkin has top 6 upside but probably needs to spend majority of this season in minors. Back to Nielsen, he has been around a few years and won’t be hurt by lack of ice time or games spent in the press box.
