The Colorado Avalanche are prioritizing a Cale Makar extension this summer. The team is confident in Joe Sakic being back in the GM chair. Speaking of Makar, he was one of two Avs to receive NHL All-Star honors.

Joe Sakic made it clear on Thursday that Cale Makar signing an extension a year before his current deal expires is a priority. The Avalanche don’t plan on taking any chances with this one.
I was curious when Chris MacFarland left if Sakic was going to feel overwhelmed back in the GM chair. Well, more wondering if he would be excited to do this, and wanted to accept the challenge.

Makar and fellow superstar Nathan MacKinnon received NHL All-Star honors. Several other Avalanche players received at least one vote.
