Four huge trades struck the hockey world on Tuesday, and one of them involved a 2022 Stanley Cup champion. Is this only the beginning of an insane offseason of transactions to come? The buyout window starts soon, and the Montreal Canadiens might have to consider it for one of their veterans. Also, a former Avs defenseman is back in the coaching game.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — June 24.

Colorado Hockey Now

Former Avalanche great Adam Foote was fired by the Vancouver Canucks earlier this summer. It didn’t take him long to find work, as he’ll now serve as an assistant coach yet again for one of the Avs’ division rivals.

Speaking of former Avs, Bowen Byram was back in trade rumors last week. And now he’s on the move, also making his way to the Central Division.

Around The NHL

What an unbelievable day of trades around the NHL. Tuesday, June 23 saw four huge names move with two top-10 picks as part of the returns. To recap:

Simon Nemec went from New Jersey to Calgary.

Jordan Kyrou went from St. Louis to Washington.

Bowen Byram went from Buffalo to Chicago.

William Eklund went from San Jose to Ottawa.

Let’s not forget that these moves came two days after Brady Tkachuk was moved to the Florida Panthers. We’ve also already seen Darren Raddysh land in Toronto, Ross Colton in Nashville, Mackie Samoskevich in Seattle, and Joseph Woll in Philadelphia.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Simon Nemec’s four years in New Jersey have come to an end. But the Devils got quite the haul for him.

San Jose Hockey Now: The Senators found the first piece to replace Brady Tkachuk, acquiring William Eklund from San Jose. The Sharks now have two of the top nine picks in this year’s draft. Will either the No. 2 or No. 9 be on the move before Friday night?

Chicago Hockey Now: The Byram trade is a massive gamble by the Blackhawks.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Fenway Sports Group era of Penguins ownership is officially over.

Montreal Hockey Now: What would it cost to buy out Brendan Gallagher if the Habs go that route?

Detroit Hockey Now: Are the Red Wings talking Dylan Larkin trade with the Dallas Stars?
