The Colorado Avalanche might be looking to make a change to their secondary core. Will they find a trade that makes sense? Also, several teams are looking to make changes this summer and the Brady Tkachuk trade might impact those plans.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — June 23.
Colorado Hockey Now
The more I’m seeing other teams make big changes the more I’m wondering just how drastic the changes will be that Joe Sakic has in mind. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the Avs have a Brady Tkachuk type of player in sight, but it does seem like they want to inject something new into their top six.
Could that cost them Valeri Nichushkin? It might.
With Nazem Kadri back in the fold, the only piece of their 2022 top six that’s changed since then is Martin Necas. He was the key piece the Avs received in the Mikko Rantanen trade. But according to a recent report, he almost got traded to another Western Conference team years before landing in Colorado.
And I’m not talking about the Vancouver Canucks.
The four-game preseason schedule was released on Monday.
