Bo Byram sent to the minors. Why this is a good thing

Published

on

Bo Byram will be sent to the Colorado Eagles for a conditioning stint, the Avalanche have announced. This is a good thing.

It will give Byram – out since before Christmas on a personal leave – a chance to work his way back to the Avs a little more gradually, yet against good competition. Will Byram play a game with the Eagles right away? Don’t know. We’ll let the powers that be tell us that. But I would guess he would, yeah.

The Eagles’ next game is…tomorrow night, in California against the Ontario Reign. I do not know if Byram is accompanying the team to the game, but, again, my bet would be yes. We should know for sure later tonight. Hmm, I might just think about hopping on a flight to L.A. if he is playing, for an up-close look at him (Avs Travel Tip Jar here, hint hint – and if he isn’t playing and I don’t go, any funds will go toward late-season or Avs playoff travel). UPDATE: I’m going.

$20 Dollar Bonus Voucher!

I think this is the right move by the Avs. Let Bo get his feet wet again playing in the American League, see how he does, before throwing him right back into NHL competition. Fingers crossed, let’s hope this is the beginning of a successful return to the Avalanche for BO Byram.

Dater – if you go tomorrow you should consider flying directly into Ontario? Easy and convenient. You will likely save on the flight and ground costs? If Bo plays I will go to the game myself.

Well if you do make it out I have no problem helping you out maybe getting you to and from the stadium…

No offense to the MacKinnon story, but this is the best news of the day. After the report of MacK skating and shooting yesterday, I figured he would be back by Saturday at the latest – no chance he would sit out a game against Sid if he could possibly avoid it. How long he stays with the Eagles I guess would depend on how he feels and how well he plays. I can see him playing this weekend with them and then joining the Avs on the road trip next week, or I could see him staying with the… Read more »

Interesting. Some good news for a change, Adrian.

I like it. And I like even more because I’m going to both Eagles games in Tucson on the 15th and 16th. Hopefully (selfish, I know) Bo is still on the roster.

Hey AD, curiosity question here. Since Bo is on his ELC and this is being designated as a conditioning assignment – will he get his NHL salary for this time or his AHL salary?

Byram makes $70k in the minors

I know that, curious if this is different since it it classified as conditioning rather than a regular assignment.
