It took a little longer then expected, but the NHL finally has a set Stanley Cup Final. And who knew that Jamie Benn was such terrible luck for the Dallas Stars? There’s also a little bit of trade chatter around the NHL, as well as some coaching spots looking like they might get filled.

With the Colorado Avalanche, we took a look at a young player who will get a good look come training camp in September.

All that and more in this Tuesday edition of Evan’s Daily.

Colorado Hockey Now

A look back at the previous week for the Avalanche.

Ondrej Pavel is not a household name and probably never will be, but he’s the exact type of player a coach might want on their fourth line. (+)

Part two of the Nikolai Kovalenko film room series will come out on Tuesday, and the focus will be on some of the little things he does on the ice. He’s very Lehkonen-like…

Here’s part one if you missed it.

NHL Trade Chatter

The Calgary Flames have seven pending unrestricted free agents in 2024. After losing Johnny Gaudreau for nothing, they don’t want that to happen again. So if Elias Lindholm says he won’t sign an extension, is he gone?

Flyers new GM Danny Briere surprised everyone when he said the team could trade goaltender Carter Hart. ย Here’s why they shouldn’t.

Will the Edmonton Oilers check in again on Erik Karlsson in San Jose?

The Canucks may try to move down from the 11th overall pick in hopes of getting rid of a bad contract.

Not a trade rumor, but sounds like Peter Laviolette will be the next Rangers head coach.

NHL Playoffs

Jamie Benn returned for the Dallas Stars, but it didn’t matter, just like it hadn’t all series long when he played. The Golden Knights came out firing and never looked back, taking down the Stars by a score of 6-0.

And it’s finally set – the Golden Knights will take on the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. And now we have almost a week to wait…

PGHN: Sounds like the Penguins will hire a GM and then fill the rest of the front office openings later.

SJHN: Adin Hill is leading Vegas to the finals. Did the Sharks give up on him too early?

MHN: The former first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky has a lot to prove next year.
