It appears there will be a lot of goaltender movement around the NHL this summer, but everyone is kind of waiting to see what happens with Connor Hellebuyck. A new team has entered the sweepstakes, but they may not want to pony up the money he wants on a long-term extension.

With the Colorado Avalanche, we took mailbag questions, and the people want to know – is Mikko Rantanen the best option at 2C for Colorado?

All that and more in this Wednesday edition of Evan’s Daily.

Colorado Hockey Now

We took questions in another mailbag. Is Mikko Rantanen the best option at 2C? Who are some other sneaky trade targets this summer for the Avalanche around the NHL? And what landmines would I avoid this summer? You can read it all here.

I talked to a scout in the Swedish Hockey League about some of the options the Avalanche will have at 27th overall from that area. With two of their scouts also working for SHL clubs, the Avalanche have a good grasp on the draft eligible players in that league. (+)

With the Hockey Hall of Fame announcements coming on Wednesday, we’ll look at what current Avalanche players are headed down that path.

NHL Trade Chatter

Connor Hellebuyck is the big name on the trade market for goaltenders, and the New Jersey Devils are interested, but can they afford him long-term?

There’s other NHL trade chatter in that video, including the Arizona Coyotes looking to buy (?) and it’s not just a two-horse race for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

National Hockey Now

Boston: Bruins fans are weighing in on whether or not the team should pursue Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Florida: Grigori Denisenko, a former first round pick, wants to return to the Panthers.

San Jose: James Reimer will not be returning to the Sharks.

Philadelphia: I pay almost zero attention to jerseys, but the Flyers released what their new uniforms will look like, and they look the same as the old ones?

New Jersey: Five potential trade destinations for Yegor Sharangovich, including Colorado.

Buffalo: The Sabres took a center off the free agent market, re-signing Zemgus Girgensons.

Montreal: Another center off the board, as Sean Monahan re-signed with Montreal for one more year.
