Checking In: The Latest Update On Gabriel Landeskog

Gabriel Landeskog joined the team for morning skate on Nov. 15, 2024

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Gabriel Landeskog on the ice, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After an optional practice on Friday, I checked in with head coach Jared Bednar about any update he could give the media.

“He’s actually doing really well right now. I’m not going to share all the information on what he’s doing. I don’t have an update, but things are going pretty good for him right now. That’s all I can say,” Bednar said.

Coach’s limited, vague response was positive so we can’t read too much into it because it’s not definitive or setting any expectations anytime soon.

Colorado’s captain has missed the last two seasons but was slated to return sometime this season. Without a timeline, there’s no guessing when he may be back in the lineup.

While there has been much speculation about whether or not he’ll be ready this season, the fact is, only he and his doctors know the answer to that question.

Jonathan Drouin is still week-to-week on the injured reserve list along with Josh Manson and Oliver Kylington. All three have upper-body injuries.

“The reinforcements are not coming soon,” Bednar said on the Altitude Radio show Wednesday morning.

Miles Wood is on the long-term injured reserve and Bednar said he was month-to-month. I asked if his injury may require surgery and Bednar said it would not.
